What is square-foot gardening?
Square-foot gardening divides your bed into a grid of 1-foot squares, planting a specific number of plants in each square based on their spacing needs. A plant that needs 12" spacing gets one square, a plant that needs 6" spacing gets four per square, and so on. It's the most space-efficient method for raised beds and the approach used across all guides on this site.
